SYHS Marching Band
TheSYHS Marching Band is the true spirit of Santa Ynez High School. We play at allhome football games as well as many other sporting and community events throughout the year. The Santa Ynez High School Marching Band has also been honored with the opportunity to play with some of the nations top university band programs including;
Ten years ago Concert Choir began with only 10 dedicated and talented singers. This year there are over 70 students in the choral music program alone. This award wining ensemble is our begin choir, open to anyone who enjoys singing. Concert Choir performs music from around theworld in several different languages and allows you to continue to grow your voice as you develop as a musician.
VocalEnsemble is our premiere performing ensemble. This group travel extensively and has won numerous awards. Recently Vocal Ensemble performed at The Disney Hall in Los Angeles, Carnegie Hall in New York City, St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican and the World Expo in Milan Italy. Vocal Ensemble is anauditioned group of singers that perform everything from madrigals and classical pieces to jazz and pop songs. If you’ve got the chops this is the spot for you.
Director of Music
Cameron Clarno has had a love affair with music nearly all his life. His mother and three brothers are all very talented choral musicians. Growing up in a musical family helped him to cultivate his love for music into a career. He received his undergraduate degree in Music Education from California State University, Northridge in 2003. Continuing his studies at Northridge, he received his teaching credential in 2004.
Cameron has performed with some of the world's greatest musicians in world class venues, including Wynton Marsalis at the Hollywood Bowl, The Los Angeles Philharmonic, The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Russell Watson (grand opening of the Kodak Theatre), Eric Whitacre(Carnegie Hall) The Three Mo’ Tenors, Barry Manilow, and Barbra Streisand. As a member of Cal State Northridge’s premier choral group, The Northridge Singers, Cameron traveled to Wales and competed in and won the 2003 Choir of the World title.
