Scratch Cooking Daily
The Nutritional Services Department at Santa Ynez Valley Union High School prepares most entrees from scratch each day. On a typical day, the students can select from 10-16 different entrees that are prepared by our culinary students and staff.
Homemade vegetarian and meat sauce spaghetti, cold pasta with fresh vegetables, pizza that is 100% made on site; dough, sauce, and freshly grated cheese and sausage are made by the culinary arts students and staff. This year we have added several new pizzas to our line up and each day we feature a different pizza. The new pizzas are the bbq chicken pizza with red onions, chicken and fresh cilantro grown by the agricultural students, three cheese pizza with freshly grated mozzarella, cheddar and parmesan cheeses, chicken alfredo with a creamy alfredo sauce, chicken and spices, Hawaiian pizza with pineapple and ham, Thai pizza with a spicy peanut sauce, chicken and fresh vegetable, a vegetarian pizza with seasonal vegetables and a ranch dressing.
All American Menu
In addition, we offer freshly grilled cheeseburgers that a 90% fat free. We make four different deli sandwiches daily, ham, fresh roast turkey, roast beef and a combination sandwich. On Fridays, we make our own bread, which is used to make our deli sandwich.
South of the Boarder Menu
Every day, we make fresh chicken and taco burritos, which are made with our scratched cooked refried beans and Spanish rice and freshly grated cheddar cheese.
