We are thrilled to officially announce that our community will welcome the cornerstone of a new aquatics and sports medicine facility on Friday, March 3, when the two Olympic trials swimming pools purchased by the Santa Ynez Valley Community Aquatics Foundation will roll into town by truck.
The pools, currently in Omaha, Nebraska where the 2016 Olympic swimming trials took place, will make the 1,700 mile, two-day journey to California, arriving in the Valley next Friday afternoon. Please join the entire community in an Olympic Pool Welcome Celebration on Friday, March 3 beginning at 3:00 PM at Old Mission Santa Inés. Meet Kami Craig, three-time US Olympic water polo medalist and Gary Hall, Jr., ten-time US Olympic swimming medalist. Hear how you can contribute to making the vision of this state-of-the-art aquatics, wellness and sports science complex at Santa Ynez High School a reality for everyone in the Santa Ynez Valley. With your help, we will ensure our entire community has access to vital health and wellness activities right here in our Valley. Read this article from the Santa Ynez Valley Star to learn more.
Santa Ynez Valley Union High School was founded in 1896 and is located in the picturesque Santa Ynez Valley--a quaint, rural community just inland from the wild and beautiful central California coast. SYVUHS enjoys a long and rich tradition of excellence. With only 1,000 students enrolled, our pristine, park-like campus may be small, but our hard-earned reputation for success is widely recognized. Whether it be in academics, athletics, visual and performing arts, occupational arts, agriculture, community service, or any other endeavor, our students have historically excelled. Santa Ynez Valley Union High School is proud to be among the highest-achieving high schools in Santa Barbara County, but we don't rest on our laurels. Our faculty and staff actively practice innovative teaching with the goal of preparing our students to meet the uniquely unprecedented challenges of learning in the 21st century.
